Prenatal yoga is a time to slow down and connect with the baby growing inside. Take some time out of your day to relieve the challenges of pregnancy while strengthening and preparing the body for labor and childbirth. In this class series our yoga practice will focus on:

• Strengthening the legs, pelvic floor and uterine muscles.
• Releasing and relieving tension held in the muscles of the back, hips and shoulders.
• Reducing tension and anxiety.
• Discovering comfort and peace from within during the onset of labor.
• Melting the body into a peaceful rest.

Together we will build confidence in ourselves and our bodies by surrounding ourselves with other beautiful, like-minded women during our prenatal yoga practice.
Limit 12 Mamas. Early registration is encouraged.
$50 for 3 classes; $20 One class Walk in

Mindful Childbirth Education Classes:

March 4th & 26th

May 6th & 20th

July 15th & 29th

Sept. 16th & 30th

Class Description:

This is an educational workshop designed to teach mothers and birth partners real tools to use during  labor and childbirth. We will awaken Moms' inner wisdom by educating her on the choices and decisions associated with pregnancy, labor and childbirth.

We focus on working together using relaxation, breathing techniques and a number of physical comfort measures to create a calm and gentle birth experience. This workshop will include information on birthing at home, in birth centers and in a hospital setting.

Our discussions will include the many methods of childbirth preparation, including the Bradley and Kitzinger Methods, Lamaze, Ida May Gaskin and Penny Simpkin as well as the benefits of Hypnobirthing. This will allow Moms to experience and choose philosophies and techniques that best suit her needs. Students taking this workshop will have a complete understanding of the stages and phases of labor, the many delivery options, and postpartum care. We will touch lightly on the art of breastfeeding and how partners can help support the breastfeeding Mom. Common interventions, inductions and pain medications will be presented without bias or judgment.

This is a great opportunity to meet other expectant parents who will have a child the same age as yours! Come ready to take notes, ask questions, play games, and have fun!!

Certified Yoga Instructor, Childbirth Educator and Doula

Stephanie Read, RPYT, CD, CCE

Teaching Prenatal Yoga is an opportunity to build confidence in women by bringing self awareness to their bodies. By encouraging women to trust the wisdom of their bodies and make decisions based on their individual needs, women find their true inner strength. I am a Yoga Alliance certified Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher. I have been teaching prenatal yoga for over six years. I have really come to appreciate the courage and empowerment women discover in themselves through their yoga practice. I am also a Certified Doula (DONA) experiencing so much joy in teaching mothers and birth partners how to create a calming and gentle birth experience. In 2015, I earned my certification as a Certified Childbirth Educator from the Academy of Childbirth Educators. I teach classes on mindful childbirth education, partners in pregnancy and VBAC education.

My prenatal classes emphasize strengthening the muscles while bringing more flexibility into the body without overworking it. Through a gentle practice we focus on the connection of breath and body awareness, strengthening pelvic floor and uterine muscles as well as building strength throughout the entire body. My philosophy is to allow students to feel calm, peaceful, accepted and supported during their practice. I only ask that students never take themselves too seriously, never push into pain or discomfort, always trust the wisdom of their intuition and always remember to practice kindness and playfulness on their mat and in their daily lives.

It is my hope, as a Prenatal Yoga Teacher, to be a valuable educational resource for women in pregnancy. My goal is to build a sense of community for these women where they have resources and educational tools, guidance and support from the beginning of their pregnancy and throughout their journey into parenthood!
